There are TWO sequels to “Broadway: The Golden Age” now filming! Due first, in theatres in late Summer 2008, is “Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age” followed by “Broadway: The Next Generation” (scroll down for more information on BNG) in 2009.
“BROADWAY: BEYOND THE GOLDEN AGE” tells the stories of the legends that came to New York City and made history in the exciting era of the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s, ending on August 25th, 1980, as director/choreographer Gower Champion dies on the opening night of his Broadway show “42nd Street.” Chapters of the film include lost footage of legendary shows and salutes to George Abbott, Michael Bennett, David Merrick, Stephen Sondheim, as well as show such as “Follies,” “A Chorus Line,” “Chicago,” “Gypsy,” with chapters with the original cast of Loraine Hansberry’s “Raisin in the Sun,” Black Broadway; The Great Teachers, focusing on the Actors Studio, Neighborhood Playhouse, Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof.

“BROADWAY: THE NEXT GENERATION” picks up the story in 1980 as the entire landscape of Broadway and theatre in America begins to change. The film chronicles Broadway in the 80’s - up to the present and also goes beyond traditional Broadway to theatre that is developing in storefronts, apartments and theatres all over the country, bringing the story up to the present. Both films will have limited art house Theatrical runs in major cities followed by International TV and DVD.
